JPS Ever since I was 4 years old I’ve been heavily into art, although I veered sharply from the path aged 20 and spiraled into drink and drug addiction. I had almost resigned myself to that fate. Just over 4 years ago (by which point I was sleeping on the roof of an abandoned hotel aged 32) I decided to face up to the demons that had destroyed me and become a success doing something I love. Inspired by Banksy, I knew street art would be the fastest way to start people noticing JPS and I felt I was making an instant mark in the game. Now 4 years later I feel a different person. My work, especially my early stuff, reflected my troubled background, but living in hell also gives you a sense of humour, so I try to bring as much of that into art as possible. I have so many directions I wish to take my work, but one thing’s for sure – I’m not going backwards anymore.
