In April, Artists Elizabeth Umanzor and Jessica Padilla provided stunning live chalk art at the 5 Corners Community Day for the Southwest Livable Centers Study from Halff Associates and the Houston-Galveston Area Council! UP Art Studio was an exhibitor and surveyed attendees on new public art coming to the 5 Corners District, District K and Hiram Clarke area.

UP Art Studio Principal & Co-Founder Noah Quiles shows off chalk art by Elizabeth Umanzor and Jessica Padilla at the 5 Corners Community Day event

And this month, UP Art was honored to join District K’s Sunset Parade hosted by Vice Mayor Pro Tem Martha Castex-Tatum. The event celebrated the TIRZ 9, TIRZ 25 and 5 Corners District communities and included a drive-by tour of the newly unveiled painted and lighted gateway pillars. The Bayou Preservation art car even made an appearance! Watch the recap video here.

We love getting out in the community and speaking with local residents about what they’d like to see incorporated into upcoming public art projects!
